Shallows surrounding islands make walling more difficult and land aggression more viable. Water control is crucial as well as control of the center area. It may be beneficial to forgo economy investment and maintain aggression on the high ground. The wood in the surrounding lowlands is very dense, which incidentally makes booming harder. Players start on a high plateau with sparse wood. So players will have to attack and defend both their front and rear. There is space in the back of player bases just like normal arena, but the entire outside is connected. Players can take fish with either ships or villagers, but the ice cannot be walled so taking the fish can be risky. Fish can be found in the ice and docks can be placed anywhere on the ice as well. Players are in a circle with melting ice on the inside and outside. This provides some fishing opportunities and makes walling more difficult. Players start out on islands that rise above the rest of the sea. AQUAPOLIS:īasically Acropolis, but on the water. A mountain is in the middle that can give a hill advantage but also make walling harder.

Two bodies of water occupy the sides of the map. Resource near the players are normal, but the extra gold and stone is in the mountains. Teams start on opposing sides of the Andes Mountains. Besides that, the map has many rocky spires which can make it a bit awkward to maneuver units. ANCIENT_SPIRES:Ī few pools of water are scattered across the map, providing players with some fishing opportunities. However, these trees are straggler trees, so players can palisade chop their way into enemy territory in an instant. This separation can give the illusion of safety. Players are separated by thin lines of trees. It is passable by both land and water units. The Amazon River flows across the middle of the map separating teams. Players are in a dense forest with food resources identical to those of Yucatan. AMAZONIA:Ī combination of Yucatan, Highland, and Black Forest. Neutral markets are present in the corners which allows trade in 1v1s also. The flanks will become more important as the game goes on in order to contest trade. Walling against early aggression should not be difficult. Players start close together in between a mountain pass. Players have a small area of flat land near them which they can use to boom, but eventually they will need to go to the mountains to get wood which will be harder to defend. The forest in the mountains is quite dense and can make it a bit difficult for units to maneuver. These can provide an economy boost but can be difficult to defend. Players have no berries but three deer patches. There is wood around the border of the map. Legends tell of sacred relics somewhere in the jungle. The river is not dockable, so only land units can be used. Relatively closed map with a river dividing teams. The lakes can't be used to help wall though, so the map is still very open to raiding throughout the game AKATOR: Lakes can provide some choke points where water units can support fights. Similar to Team Acopolis, but there are lakes throughout the map that are large enough to fish from. See the map file for specific balance changes. DEBUG will make it so a specific map get selected instead of it being random. The overall map pack has configurable settings.

You can download lava terrains for Definitive Edition as well. I implemented some terrain graphics to make the maps more interesting. Maps are supported to be compatible with Definitive Edition only. More information regarding RM scripting can be found here. It greatly assists in the organization of large projects like this. I highly recommend you to take a look at this if you are at all interested in Random Map Scripting. So I developed a tracking spreadsheet to keep track of everything for me.

Feel free to give feedback as this is a work in progress.Īs the number of maps in the collection increases, it becomes harder to keep track of everything. I have tested them as much as possible on my own, but there is always room for improvement. Some are more competitive than others, but all of them are fun to play as well as aesthetically pleasing. It is a collection of quite a few maps that I made. So I thought I would give you all the benefit of my spare time. The WiC map-making contest gave me a nice hobby.
